BACK!

Well I think I`ve neglected this blog for long enough.
This year has been a lot of hard work and learning. I started using maya and haven`t looked back since. Here are a few of my first assignments using the software. More coming soon!

Animal Walk Cycle

Better late than never! The stripes gave me problems and the animation is wonky. Can't wait until I can use the Cintiqs next year, my small tablet has been getting in the way lately.

24 Hour Film

So I'm still working on that tiger... until then here is a short animation I made in about 8 hours I think. I wasn't going to post this because I'm not very happy with it but I'm glad I made it and participated in the 24 hour film festival at Sheridan. Great people and some really awesome shorts this year. Can't wait to try again next year.

Character Timeline

Haven't posted in a while. I am overloaded with things to do. Here's my character timeline. Self explanatory but its the same character at different ages. Kind of rushed but it turned out alright. Recently read some HG Wells books for my sci fi class  (the Time Machine and War of the Worlds) so I came up with the idea of a 19th century TIMe traveling monkey inventor! Now I have to work on a tiger walk cycle so maybe I'll upload that here soon. Thanks for lookin!

Scale Layout

The assignment was to show some kind of extreme scale. I probably should have planned it out better and I need to work on painting mountains and rock. Here I was just making it up as I painted. But it came out pretty cool. I'm going to try to include process work with most of my stuff since I like seeing that kind of stuff from other artists. Probably going to be posting some traditional paintings soon!

Walk Cycle Animation

For this assignment I had to create an original character and animate a walk cycle. I decided to go with my jet pack character from before and keep the walk simple just since its my first attempt at a walk. Also decided to use the assignment to learn how to clean up an animation and do some minor compositing in after effects. I animated and lined in flash, colored in photoshop, then added the cast shadow on the ground in after effects. A few mistakes and jitters but it came out pretty good. Definitely a learning experience.
